Recent assualt on Constitucion (Ajijic)

A friend I know along with his friend and friend's wife were recently assaulted on Constitucion a few nights ago. They were leaving the Cameleon and walking back to their car around 11:00pm when they ran into three Mexican guys on the sidewalk. I'm not sure what exactly transpired but one of the Mexican guys hit my friend on the head with a rock and knocked him out. When his friend and wife intervened they were also assaulted. I don't believe anything was taken it was just a plain assault. My friend has a Mexican wife and he is fluent Spanish. They are in their 40's and not easy targets. They said they have never seen these guys around before and didn't get a good description.

Being that one of them was packing a large rock I think it was three punks looking for trouble. Perhaps they were getting ready to put that rock through a car window when they were interrupted??? Either way keep your head on a swivel when out and about after dark. There always seems to be an uptick in this sort of thing right around Christmas. Last year there were several purse snatchings around the LCS in broad daylight around this same time.

Didn't know the fiesta was over, I saw just a couple of days ago the puestos on the carretera still in place. Anyway, yes always an uptick this time of year. Sorry for your friends, CB.

Lots of people get rolled every year leaving camaleon after a few drinks, it keeps happening so be aware

Usually they get "rolled" by the police. This is the first actual assault I have heard of in the years I have been hanging around El Cameleon. I don't believe anything was taken. I do know of a few female bartenders that left work at 2:00am and had some close calls walking home from there.

Wow. Unsafe around there late at night. Stay away. Drunks and single young women are such easy prey. The girls should have an escort to walk them home at that hour - provided by the bar!

It's unsafe (relatively speaking) on any side streets late at night whether here or downtown Canada/USA. Definitely the women should have an escort. Unlike most of the other late night venues which people drive to, El Cameleon mostly has "walk-in" customers and Constitucion is pretty deserted late at night. The police have been known to sit outside and shake down drunks although I haven't seen them do this in a couple of years.

They're probably still doing it, drunks are such easy pickings.

Back in my 20s I worked in bars in Waikiki, exact same story then as here now. The Samoans were the mafia and they were in charge but some of them were cops too. same same Where there are suckers or drunks there will always be predators.
