New gas prices?

I've seen the news from NOB that gas prices have been cut loose and are free to rise and fall with the market. What if any changes have you seen so far?

Not yet that I know of. I thought that was coming in 2018.

Also lpg has soared. Now 10 centivos litre. Was 8.5 a couple of months ago and i think 7 at start of the year.

Pemex owns no stations. Each one is indepently owned and operated and free to do as they wish.

18.46 per liter for premium at the Pemex on the Libramiento SAT today, 16.56 p/l for magna.
Not much change yet.

Yep. But what I wonder is if even those franchises can compete against each other tho they are branded the same. I guess so. . .  There have been other brands interested in entering the market and I think there is one in Guad but far as I know not in this area anywhere.

Isn't there a new one in Jocotepec?  Yes, the Pemex franchises can compete pricewise and I believe there are several new brands in GDL.
I saw Oxxo gasoline pumps right next to a Pemex station somewhere, maybe PV or on the way there.  Costco says there are getting into the gasoline business also.

That's right, Costco! I read that some time ago too. Well, not new for them, they have sold gasoline in the states since the beginning so I expect they'll do well here too - read long lines to buy less expensive gas.

In Vancouver the competing stations used to have price wars. Often they would sell fuel below cost to lure customers into their convenience stores and hope people get in the habit of stopping there for gas. It was illegal for competing companies to collude on prices. Is price fixing between competing companies illegal in Mexico?

There is a large Pemex station on the carretera east of San Juan Cosala. They advertise lower prices. So I got gas there and the worker said ignore the sign as we are the same price as the other Pemexs.
