The party starts Friday and ends Sunday. Actually not much traffic on the caraterra Saturday night.

Yep, Sunday night is the biggie for Cruz Roja too. Lots of drunks and lots head injuries. Sometimes a few dead ones.

I'm all in favor of DUI checks.

Saturday night is like a "walk in the park", from SJC to the Libramiento, compared to the crazies on late Sunday PM and evening.

Different country, different night for catching the drunks. In Canada, it's Saturday night. Sunday is for sobering up for work on Monday... unless there's hockey on... or it's a long weekend.

Saturday night is probably good pickings in Guadalajara. It is way busier there on Saturday night than Sunday. This is cottage area here so they check in on Friday, check out on Sunday and get hammered in between....

Collingwood, Ontario is also a weekend hangout for those from Toronto. Ski in the winter, the bay and beaches for the summer, and a ton of golf courses too.
DUI checkpoints on Friday night and Saturday night. "Roadies" on a Friday night to get there? ...not nearly as popular as they used to be. ;)

Jajaja.......when I was a kid back in the late 70's/early 80's getting hammered on the way there used to be half the fun. Not any more.

There is a woman on FB who was busted in last nights roadblocks. She admits to having dinner and drinks yet can't believe she was detained, her car was towed and she spent the night in jail. She is warning everyone about this "scam".........am I missing something here?? Scam??

Yep, different countries, in Mexico, when I was young, sobering up for work was called "San Lunes".

Where is the mordida here? Wouldn't it be routine for a DUI to get taken to jail and your car impounded?

Agreed......just trying to figure out why she thought it was a scam. Maybe because a mordida would have been better than a night in jail.

When you are going to jail, you don't offer......you ask.
Then again, an incorruptible cop might be considered a scam by her.
If she went to jail because she is cheap....no pity here.

She said they had a lot of people in there with her. Sounds like mordita was not on the table for anyone last night. That will come when they go to get their cars from the impound lot........

I saw the post you're talking about. She said that stopping people without cause (no weaving or driving erratically) is not done anywhere. Glad somebody set her straight on that one because I know it happens in the States and sure happened on St. Thomas, though not often enough. I never saw so many people who only have 1 drink at a dinner and night off. I also wondered what I was missing.
