Joco shooting around 1 pm
There was a shooting in Joco on Vicente Guerreo about a block before the light at Indepencia around 1 today. Don´t know if there were deaths, looked like some guys in a black Ford pickup were the victims, one was still moving when I called the ambulance. A 9 mm so not amateurs I would think. Be careful out there.

Not an appropriate comment, Hockables. Kiko, please follow up with any info you have. I well remember a few years ago when we had a narco problem in the Chapala area, and I did not go out without consulting this board. This board is very valuable. Don't diss it.

Here is a news story about the event.

There is more to the story than this but no sense in going there. Agua que no has de beber, déjala correr.

Re: Joco shooting around 1 pm
There are some holes in that news story. Not trying to spread fear here but any expat who was living here lakeside in the spring of 2012 tends to be a little sensitive about these events. I have had Mexican friends who were kidnapped and/or murdered over the years.
From what I saw I would say it was a Glock 9mm, but then I am from Texas, you know the state where you can openly carry an AR-15 into a Mc Donalds for your Happy Meal.

In Mexico .38 Super is a popular caliber for semiautomatic handguns.

Kiko.... I like that. As a law bidding, non gun carrying Canadian, I couldn't help but take a picture of these signs at the entrance to a Denny's in Dallas. I guess an AR-15 would be allowed as it is not a hand gun.kiko wrote: </snip> but then I am from Texas, you know the state where you can openly carry an AR-15 into a Mc Donalds for your Happy Meal.

It is a crazy place I used to sell alcohol and I never forget entering a liquor store /bar in New Mexico for the first time, people had to leave their guns at the entrance...

Re: Joco shooting around 1 pm
I'll never forget when moving from sedate Seattle the wild west of Scottsdale, we we shocked to see a sign at the entry to a popular grocery store, requesting patrons to "please check in your handguns at the customer service counter"!
I'm always surprised at the proliferation of guns among the local gentry here!

Colt 1911 38 Super was the most common (illegal) caliber automatic possessed before the cartels started "importing" more modern styles. Men of my father in law's generation that could afford one, had one. And these have been passed down.

In my travels, I've only been in one country where you could be in an ordinary restaurant and see that the person at the next table was wearing a filled gun belt.
Isn't "civilization" great? Wonder when the U.S. will get some?

Sure wish they could figure out a way to get all those guns those thugs in Chicago seem to have.

Yep, I agree. But in fact, somebody sold those guns to anyone who has one, or to whoever started the line of inheritance. Gotta start with the source, and so far, the NRA is the grandaddy of the lobby and won't go for cutting off the head of the snake.

It's all over the country. My first sight of "open carry" was near Phoenix, AZ, in a "Denny's" type restaurant.
Chicago seems to be unusually violent right now.

There was a restaurant in Colorado town (Rifle?) where the waitresses were packing heat. No one ever complained that an order was wrong......
