Happy 4th of July

To all my American friend's and family.

Thank you! Love this holiday and always makes me grateful for the opportunities I have had being a U.S. Citizen.

Thanks, Canadian amigos, very nice. I'm afraid all I have to say about it is ugggg. I have to look to the distant past of my country to be proud.

Watching A Capitol Fourth tonight on TV. An opportunity to remember the past thru rose-colored glasses. And to remember when I walked down from Beacon Hill to the esplanade in Boston and sat on a blanket for the 4th of July concert and fireworks. And waved "sparklers"! And sang "Hooray for our web-footed friends, for a duck may be somebody's mother; hurray for our friends in the swamp, where the weather is very very dahmp." It is also, these days of old age, a time for reflection.
