Is immigration being *** or what?
So moved here and was given temporale for one year; renewed and INM gave me 2 more years; time to renew again and, 2 yrs ago was told next time would be permanente. INM now says one more year before going permanente. Any idea why the arbitrary renewals (1, then 2, then 1)? Anyone else experience this *** around? If so, did you 'suck it up' or what????
My spouse was granted permanente status immediately but INM wouldn't let me, as spouse, even though we had all the paperwork (MX consulate certified marriage certificate).
Most irksome, time consuming and starting to feel like a money grab.

Whoever told you that next time would be permanente was wrong. Perhaps you misunderstood? The process is one year, then two years, then one year, then permanente. It has been that way for quite some time and isn't arbitrary.

It used to be 5 years on an FM3 and then 5 years on an FM2 and THEN you could apply for Permanente (although my card says Inmigrante because that's what it used to be called).
The changes put in place really streamline the process... and just think of all that yearly renewal revenue that INM gave up.
