BAD atM transaction
Last wednesday the 8th I used my CapOne card at CiBanco, asking for 20K ...... it gound around for awhile then produced NO Pesos and no receipt. Employees were of no help, said call my bank. Upon returning home, found that dollars had been deducted. I went back to CiBanco today to ask that they not record over 3/7/17 video. They said they couldn't help me and to call their main office that controls all this stuff (gave me a card that doesn't even have the tele#). You're on your own here, that's for sure.

That's the same regardless of which bank and which country. You always have to launch the investigation by contacting your "home" branch. The bank branch in which the ATM is located usually is not serviced by the branch and many kiosks are serviced by a third party contracted to the bank whose name is on the ATM.

thank you for your insightful reply to my Warning to others, that users of ciBanco should be alert at this point in time. I am sure others using this atm around this time, also appreciate your learned reminder of the resolution process. We are all grateful.
None the less folks, heads up.

Re: BAD atM transaction
Many of us have had problems with Mexican ATMs. The problems are for your home bank to resolve. I know that is can result in a shortage to cash but that is the rule. Your Home bank is the one providing protection against ATM fraud. And fraud it is if they don't acknowledge the over withdrawal. Many banks here have had to explain their actions (or lack thereof) to the Ministerio Publico including one large and famous one here Lakeside
Keep the pressure on your home bank and in time your problem will be solved

thumbs up dave. i didn't ask for help in resolvng the problem. I was simply suggesting that people pay attention to the location of a current potential problem. i have always realized that resolution is ultimately MY PROBleMA

Sorry if you interpreted my response as insensitive. I found out the hard way by losing $400 CDN at a ATM kiosk in Guadalajara that had a "Scotiabank" name on it. My home bank tried but were unsuccessful in retrieving the cash. Definitely a case of fraud that was impossible to resolve.

So is this supposed to be something new.. ?? It's been this way for the 10 years I've been here. You contact your own bank they resolve the issue for you.....
It's happened to a couple of times in the last ten years, I use
Scotia Bank, both times the issue was resolved within 5 business days..

Re: BAD atM transaction
I was shorted $3000 pesos from the Scotia ATM a few years ago. It took 3 months and an angry phone call to my Scotia branch manager in Canada to get the money back. They kept telling me that the Mexican Scotia wasn't responding to their inquiries.

You know that all ATM's have problems from time to time. We lost 750.00 USD in pesos last year at the Scotia ATM and we have still been unable to recover it from BOA.
I have used CI Banco's machine for about the last 5 years (I live here full time) and this is the first time that I have heard of a problem such as this. Don't blame the bank for following rules, the cash was advanced from your bank to them. I think legally they must reimburse your bank in this instance before you get your money back.
