I'm gonna ask for some crispy bacon bits on my batch of poutine. Go big or go home is my motto.....

Poutine is wonderful. It's rich, indulgent, and not something you eat everyday if you want to live a long and healthy life. Gravy on fries is as Canadian as malt vinegar on fries. It's a national thing like, let me think, oh yeah, hot sauce or maybe (ugh) ketchup on absolutely everything.

I saw the place and expect to try it soon - glad for the reviews.

You would go nuts for it.

Try criadillas if you see it. Rockies are usually made from sheep but the criadillas are real bully as Ted Roosevelt would say.

My Mother grew up in Lewiston Maine which at the time had a huge french speaking population to work in the mills. So they have Poutine in Maine. She also says everybody spoke french and english. The french is mostly gone but the Poutine survived generations of time.

Poutine is definitely a French Canadian (Quebecois) dish, but not limited to the Province of Quebec and east.

Here is a web page of a chain of restaurants that are spread across Canada and with locations and head office in the U.S.A.

Smokes Poutinerie

Have a look at their "Menu".

Bon Appétit....

If you Google "which restaurants serve poutine" you will notice that it is a pretty big item all across NA now. McDonalds, Costco, A&W, Wendy's, KFC & Harvey's to name a few fast food places and there are lists of higher end restaurants in many states serving it. Even Emeril is serving it. It has certainly gained in popularity since I left Canada 5 years ago. I had no idea it was this popular now.

No surprise, fast food emporiums are not known for healthy eating. Just look at the bodies of Americans these days. . .an epidemic of obesity and diabetes. Wonder why??? not

Hawaiians love french fires and gravy too and it's on all the local food menus. Hawaiians also suffer from morbid obesity. The city and county runs a special "ambulance" for these people, it's a flat bed truck. Fork lifts are used to load them. Wanna be like that?

hahaha Yep, another low-fat, low-salt "food" item. So, Spam is made up of pork scraps pressed to make something resembling a real food with pink slime added. Where do they get these scraps? Floor sweepings! Provecho!

As per usual, someone wrote a song about this very subject...

"Five in one, baby, one in five. No one here gets out alive." Wise words. Eat, drink, be merry.

I disagree...and so does this article.
This depends completely on the context. A diet that is high in carbs AND fat will make you fat, but it’s NOT because of the fat.

In fact, the studies consistently show that diets that are high in fat (but low in carbs) lead to much more weight loss than diets that are low in fat (114, 115, 116).
https://authoritynutrition.com/top-13-nutrition-lies-that-made-the-world-sick-and-fat/

But then what's poutine without the fries.
I also think that sugar substitutes are not all they're cracked up to be and can lead to metabolic disorders like diabetes. I've lost weight since I stopped drinking diet coke.
And I also lost a ton of weight in my thirties by eating high fat/low carb...used to order a small pizza and just eat the toppings and cheese and ate peanut butter by the spoonful and cheddar cheese by the pound.
