Poutine anyone, eh?
Tonight I ate at Tony's and across the street I saw a sign that said on the building, "The Poutine Place". Well, I have never had the pleasure, but soon I want to see what it is and try it. The waiter at Tony's said that they ordered some this morning to see what it was and they liked it a lot.

Re: Poutine anyone, eh?
Poutine is a Quebecois tradition. Hot French fries topped with cheese curds and then topped with hot gravy. The fries and gravy have to be piping hot or the cheese curds won't melt.
Decadent and Delicious but not a good choice if you're counting calories or carbs.

I really want to try this too. They actually have this at McDonalds in Canada.

Imagine yourself at a damp 34F in downtown Montreal at midday today. Poutine would be needed to fuel up and warm up. Mais, oui !

Re: Poutine anyone, eh?
Poutine is great! I plan to try out the local restaurant soon.
On a related note, lobster season just opened last week in my part of Nova Scotia. My favorite lobster dish is a variation on poutine (imaginatively called "lobster poutine") where you replace the brown gravy in a traditional poutine with creamed lobster (lobster fried in thick, rich cream). This is one dish I will be missing over Christmas.

I just got back from the Poutine Place. The "Traditional" plate of poutine with a salad was 50 pesos. It was good, but I will take an extra Lipitor tonight. lol
I met the owner and he is Mexican as all of his staff are. He told me his Canadian daughter-in-law , if I understood him correctly, taught him the trade and encouraged him to give it a go.

Montreal has a poutine festival every year. There has to be 50 different toppings available........... Yummy.

It sounds awful, I hope it taste better than it sounds, since I do not care for French fries or gravy I will have to pass on that one..

I love French fries but with gravy on them? It really sounds awful.

I can not defend the seemingly national dish, but it was good, much better than it sounds to be by the ingredient list. I will try, for a mere 50 pesos, any dish of fame.

Look at it as the fast food of the settlers.. no one needs to get hooked on that
type of food nowadays----it maybe tasty but is fatal..

Totally. Doesn't sound good to me either, but to each his own. Definitely heart attack food at worst and food to make you fat at least. Provecho!

I have said many times that I would pay 50 pesos to watch a monkey **** a football. That goes for food also.

Re: Poutine anyone, eh?
The Poutine Place does not drag people off the street and force them to try it. I willingly tested the waters and now there are many more ponds to swim in. It saved me a trip to Montreal to get it off my bucket list. Now for eye of newt al carbon.

Re: Poutine anyone, eh?
I'm gonna ask for some crispy bacon bits on my batch of poutine. Go big or go home is my motto.....
