Contacting CFE
So yesterday my power went out abut 4pm, and having been burned the last time [http://www.insidelakeside.com/t16175-electric-out], I tried to call CFE. Unless I'm doing something very wrong, none of the numbers in the sticky post work. And, is that 071, an actual number? Though I didn't even see it. Of course, I was also trying to call my my cell phone, and kept getting that, "El numero que usted marca," which wants to make me kill. Tried today on my landline, and also no luck. The lights did come back on about 8, but I would like to get clear on the reporting procedure.
Cheers,
Michael

Re: Contacting CFE
Calling 071 from the cell was likely the problem.

You mean you can't call 071 from a cell? That's a problem since the land lines require power...
Re: Contacting CFE
Land lines don't require power but your phone may or may not. Two of my land line phones don't need power and one does. I've always phoned 071 from a land line. When I try 071 on my cell phone it says not allowed.

Always have an old fashioned phone around as it will work when the power to your house is off as Cypress said.

The local Chapala office has a 765 number. Look it up.

If it is after hours the local office won't be open. A few years back CFE changed the reporting of power problems to a national basis. They are always open.

Correcto......071 and make sure you have your CFE account no. by the phone so you don't have to go looking for it in the dark. They will usually give you a time to expect resumption of service.
