That is funny although not entirely accurate. You don't need a membership to participate in most (if not all) of the LCS activities, you just have to pay more.

Lots of joys. That was a funny article, but really, this writer is a bit too easily annoyed, IMO. Maybe that's why he's still single. Very Happy

My biggest "joy" with them is that they sprayed mosquito killer over the whole grounds recently and that ended up including the whole neighborhood..... which I live in.

Remember the 'Quitcherbitchen' comment here the other day? I was scanning through the blog and there was a pic of a kid with that on it.
Coincidence?

Yeah, being married is paradise. Maybe he's just smart.

Good blog, funny guy! Nailed it. I suspect this good-looking witty guy is single by choice. Good for him! It's a good life. Some of the most annoying people I know are married.

As for LCS, they could use his help, so why doesn't he volunteer? And while he's at it, donate money for a new computer system and software! I am not a volunteer, but I did go to the annual meeting, and I do understand that despite membership fees and event fees, they have a very small budget, which they are trying to balance, and they are preparing for a major renovation of the buildings, so they are avoiding spending money on infrastructure at this time.

You can donate your entire estate so they can benefit from the bucket you kick.Smokealot
I'm a member and enjoy certain activities over there, but I think getting to close to the inner workings of the place would have me running down the road like a white-assed deer.

A friend volunteered to pull weeds there. They wanted to put him through a complete vetting and an interview with two people. He declined and is pulling weeds elsewhere......jaja.

Whenever I feel like pulling weeds over there, I just do something like deadhead all the geraniums or something benign so no one has to have a heart attack and I don't have to mention i was volunteering. I volunteer on the sly to avoid the folly. razberry

hahahaha

I was thinking how a Mexican organization for retired immigrants in California would be, compared to the LCS:
Mariachis!
Banda music!
Tacos!
Tamales!
Fiestas!
Laughter!
Dancing!
Kids!
Dogs!
Goats/chickens!

Flash back to LCS. . .

Nailed it, Trailrunner but you forgot the cohetes. I'd join that one.

Me too!
I did forget the cohetes. People in Ajijic must be suffering, I can hear them loud and clear right now and the dog is under the desk.
Was walking by the church in Ajijic today about 1 and about 100 very strong ones went off. It was awful! Everyone was grimacing and hurrying along to get out of the street. Had a chat with the man who owns the shoe store he hates them! Says most don't like them either. Said they are about 50 pesos each and we calculated how much the barrage must have cost then just shook our heads. If it was 100 that would be 5000 pesos! He kept saying " and for nothing!". He also said cohetes are too steeped in tradition they can't get rid of them.

Thanks for the comments. Hope you liked the blog. Sometimes you run into situations here that make you shake your head and laugh...and write about them!

The longer you are here the less head-shaking you do.

Like you, I blogged about it too then one day I realized that almost nothing made me shake my head anymore. It was all normal and I didn't have anything to blog about anymore.

I can top that for auditory hell. I'd foolishly arranged to meet a friend for lunch on the Plaza at noon. Need I say more? But there is more. The banda group with the huge speakers started in about the time lunch arrived, and a guitarist/singer was trying to perform for the diners. Did we dawdle after lunch? HAH!

Oooh, lunch from hell!
I think you guys get a lot more cohetes than we do in SA. Pays to be poor, I guess.
