Stolen license plates Empty Stolen license plates

Post by Pogo Sun Aug 07, 2016 2:37 am

I was parked near Farmacia Guadalajara in Ajijic a couple days ago, and came out to find my Jalisco license plates missing. My first question would be how and where do I get replacement plates? My second question is why would they steal my plates and what might they do with them that I should be concerned about?

Any help will be appreciated.

You need to report the stolen plates and then may have to go to Guadalajara to get new ones.  Did you check their cameras to see who stole them?

Also, very important, if you have a nationalized vehicle we need to do extra checks to make sure the nationalization process was done right so you arent arrested and car seized when you go to get new plates.

You might have gotten a citation and the transito's took your plates to make sure you pay your fine. They do that all the time in other area's of MX.

They dont take plates in Jalisco and never both, probably used to transport a stolen car from the Pueblo Magico

They quit doing that in Jalisco over 20 years ago. But even then they put a citation on the windshield to let you know.

Hmmmm. Maybe some expat just went RP and needs Jalisco plates for his NOB car. Of course, he only mentioned that need to his gardener, who feels that such favors will insure his continued employment and possibly even a bonus. ¿Quien sabe?

Criminals regularly steal license plates to put on another vehicle when they use that vehicle in a crime. Nothing new here. It happens NOB too.

Buy anti theft locking screws for license plates. I think I saw them at Auto Zone. Cheap deterrent.https://smile.amazon.com/Cruiser-Accessories-81430-Fastener-Stainless/dp/B00BZZTGYU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1470927486&sr=8-4&keywords=license+plate+locks&refinements=p_n_shipping_option-bin%3A3242350011
