A few Costco questions Empty A few Costco questions

Post by Klutzy Sat Apr 09, 2016 7:17 am

I read the threads and some of the info is old and/or contrary to what I've heard. Can you still buy a card here and use it in any country? I've heard you can not use a MX card it in the US or vice versa. Do they have motorized shopping carts, and enough of them that I'm likely to find one available on a weekday? Do they still offer a one day pass? I want to buy two nice memory foam mattress pads ~3" thick, one king and one full (US sizes). I can't find them on the website, do you know if the store has them, preferably the one on Lopez Mateos? Thank you!

I was there last week...was told by2 different gals at th door that I could get a pass, just go to the customer "service-HA-HA" counter. BUT when I went there, was advised that was not correct...had to buy full membership just go in.

The one question I can answer is that the Costco cards are reciprocally accepted in all North American countries.

They have motorized carts - whether one is available when you need it is the question but I was waiting outside one day and they seem to be returned quite rapidly. If you don't want to go get a card you can order what you want from Cynthia Ornelas and she'll deliver your items to your door for a fee.

They would not accept my Costco card from the U.S. in Mexico. YMMV.

I'd like to add that we've been using Cynthia's shopping service for months: it's reliable and reasonable, and less expensive than driving yourself. This is not to mention the PITA factor and you don't need to have a Costo card, as Carry Bean says. Cynthia and her husband are a little overwhelmed right now due to the death of the Lakeside Express owners and discontinuation of the service, so not quite so "on time".........but they're knocking themselves out trying.

Have been using my Mx Costco card in Kahului, Hawaii for several years -- & my family uses their Mx Costco cards all over California.
Cynthia Ornelas and her husband do a great job, but I sure miss doing business with Don and Jim.

What a crock! We have been using our USA Costco cards in Mexico for 15+ years! In the very beginning, the 1st Guadalajara Costco had just switched from Price Club and we had to be assigned an interim membership number.

My U.S. Costco card worked in Mexico for a year until it expired and I bought a Mexican card.

You can have Cynthia pick up your order or once a month she does a day trip where you ride with her in the van - and go to Home Depot or Mega or... as well. You can use her card or yours.

Thanks everyone, lots of good, if conflicting, information! I can definitely see using Cynthia in the future. I hate shopping, but for this trip I need to browse and see what they have. I didn't know Don and Jim, but it sounds like they were lovely people. So sad.
