Love the title already! If you can't cross it, you can chomp it away?
I've done some news reading about delegates and super delegates, and it looks like the "machine" is rigged to the point where a candidate like Bernie Sanders has the chance of a snowball in Hades, no matter how much grassroots support he may get. This leaves us with Hillary vs. whoever. What a country!

IIRC the main entrance to the Vatican is quite wide and open.

Tear down that wall, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.
So the Mexican people are the goose and El Papa is the gander.
You find it ironic.....I find your analogy stupid.

Fill in the blank, for what I really think about you and your assinine BS.
You said the whole Vatican was surrounded by walls, high walls, that's why I said your analogy was stupid.
You don't know me or anything about me so your opinion of me is worthless even though you are being nice.
I couldn't care less of what you think about me or my asinine BS.
BTW....learn to spell asinine correctly.

I wish I'd written that.
That EPN could look the Pope in the eye after being verbally destroyed only proves he's a spook. What a world we live in.

We have enough money to do any of those compassionate ideals you outline. In 5 decades I have not seen it happen, no matter how much money we throw at hunger, education, and infrastructure. It doesn't matter who is in charge, neither party will take care of average citizens.

"We don't have the money" was sarcasm. There is plenty of money. It is how we choose to spend it. if neither party will take care of average citizens while shoveling billions into the maw of the military industrial complex then we need a revolution. If you believe we are spending enough money on hunger, education and infrastruction (and not just in ways that enrich those feasting on the hungry, uneducated and willfully ignorant) you are part of the problem.

Re: Ummmm….The Pope is Here
As long as the military/industrial/big pharma/etc. lobbyists are in charge of the lawmakers.........nothing whatsoever will be done towards those humanitarian goals. What kind of a revolution can start when a socialist democrat garners enough support from the public to match the poll numbers of his rival, but the delegates and super delegates so outnumber his that he stands with nearly zero chance of actually being selected as the nominee?

Bernie chose to run as a Democrat under the established rules of the DNC. He could have run as an independent but chose not to. He did nothing for the DNC and is now reaping his reward.

Bernie Sanders, according to Senor Google, caucuses with the Democrats, which entitled him to run as a Democrat.
On a practical level, when has an "Independent" won the election for POTUS? Perhaps he has little chance of becoming the nominee, but his choice of which party made sense.

Re: Ummmm….The Pope is Here
At some point there will be enough people with nothing left to lose and then there will be a revolution of a different sort. We may be long dead and gone by then but it will happen. Or, the American people will morph into a nation of people who plod along in service to their corporate masters, sufficiently dumbed down to pose no threat. It will be like Idiotacracy but not a movie.

Re: Ummmm….The Pope is Here
Let's posit that there's an armed rebellion. The people with the most to lose also own the most effective tools of warfare. Outcome: almost certain.
Prediction: your second option comes to pass.
I would really like to think otherwise, but Logic interferes.

Re: Ummmm….The Pope is Here
Gringal, the other sort of rebellion is unlikely to be armed for the reason you state. I don't think we can exactly imagine the forms it will take. Massive work stoppages, sophisticated hacking, noncompliance on many levels, refusal to purchase anything but necessities, etc. There are too many people very-to-adequately comfortable right now but, unless something changes, the tipping point will be reached eventually. However, if the general dumbing down of America happens faster then who knows how things will look. At any rate, I am glad I will not be here to see it.

Re: Ummmm….The Pope is Here
Me too! And it will be ugly.
The one thing we can count on though, is that armament will be available to anyone who wants it and most will be armed, if they aren't already. Any revolution will probably last about a week, everyone will be dead in that time.
I wonder about the future of law enforcement in the US as well. How can you enforce the law when most of the citizenry are armed to the teeth? Seems to be an increase in LOD deaths even now.
OH so glad I'm not there anymore!

Re: Ummmm….The Pope is Here
It could reach "critical mass" during the lifetimes of those in their mid 50's and 60's. Everything seems to be speeding up since the introduction of mass communication and automation.
Some things to consider re Lady O's post: there are only too many people right now who can't purchase more than necessities. We don't have the unions to tide workers over during strikes. And so on.
Once they invented a robot which could play "go" better than the best, we created the end of the need for most workers. My esposo, when involved in the tech industry early on, predicted this "end is near" scenario and was contradicted by those who saw the creation of more jobs because of the new technology. We shall see, but I think his grim scenario is slowly coming to pass. Many assembly lines are an example.
I'll vote for the "dumbing down" possibility. If the leaders can provide enough "bread and circuses", that could work.

Anarchy is messy. Look at Libya, Syria, Iraq, etc., etc.
In the USA, once the power is shut down, there will be no water, no heat, no AC, no gasoline, no groceries, no medical care......nothing. Just an over-armed populace....a crazed, desperate populace. It will make your last horror movie look like paradise. Even the Pope will stay far away.
