Looking for an old book
A while back I was given a link to a pdf book written on the Lake Chapala area. Thanks to a computer crash I lost it before I finished the read and can no longer find it.
The book was written a long time ago when the best and perhaps only way to get from Ajijic to Chapala was by boat.
I'd sure love to find the link again and would appreciate any help.

I wish i knew as that would make finding it again a whole bunch easier.
It was about a persons personal expierences of moving to the area from somewhere overseas. It was a really good read and I would love to find it again.

I'll bet it was Dane Chandos books House in the Sun and Village in the Sun. Here is a review of the two books:

PS - DH Lawrence wrote The Plumed Serpent also about Mexico while he lived in a house in Chapala

This is a photo of his house which is still in San Antonio Tlayacapan - although "improved" quite a bit I am sure. http://www.flickr.com/photos/bevcooperwright/283815888/

Re: Looking for an old book
They were both great reads. There are two other books written by a man that came here in the 1920s. I don't remember the titles but my neighbor has copies and I'll ask her. More later.
Two more first-hand accounts of visiting here long ago:
Everett Gee Jackson: Burros and Paintbrushes, visiting artists live in Chapala in the 1920s. A Long Way to Coramondu (2nd book) a return visit in the 50s/60.
The young artist visits Chapala and other places in the 1920s. Later he marries, becomes a professor of art at San Diego State Univ. and visits Mexico several more times.

Re: Looking for an old book
Thanks for the information. I was originally sent the link from another person so I had no starting place or direction. It's been so long that I get to start from the beginning again. this time round instead of using Adobe Reader and never knowing where I left off I'll use "Adobe Digital Editions" and its bookmark feature.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
