Prisoner of the parade
Stopped at our lawyer about 11 am to pick something up, then continued along 16th de Septiembre only to find ourselves trapped by the parade. Went up Niño Heroes. Threatened by sayacas, we retreated in reverse back to the lake. Tried going the wrong way along Septiembre and met with much cooperation and kindness, but no way out. So we finally did the Mexican thing: parked and had lunch. By the time we were done it was over and the streets were full of flour covered pedestrians all grinning ear to ear. I do love a parade.

Mike, you are going to make it as a happy resident of Mexico. Your post shows your willingness to adapt and that is key to living here happily.

I agree, Gamina! I thought the same thing. You will be happy here, Mike. Flexibility, sense of humor (extra points if self-deprecating), and respect are the keys and it sounds like you have them. You'd be surprised how many do not. . .

Thanks. While I'm a bit of a newbie in the sense that this is the first time I'm staying this long, we've actually owned here for 20 years just because we love Mexico.

Jaja.....I'm still getting confetti and flour out of my Vocho after having it in last years parade. I took a pass on this years.
Re: Prisoner of the parade
I had my introduction to being in the parade a week or so ago In Chapala.
Had my Safair decked out, myself and my lady both in costumes and two aliens that seemed a real photo op.
From the malicon to Soriana and then back.
Got a lot of pictures, but the quality isn't that good.
It was fun and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Thanks all! I love it there, and if it didn't have the warts it would be overcrowded.
