Any updates on Santa Maria del Oro?

I just read c-Bob's review, but that was almost 3 years ago. I also read a U.S. Gov't travel advisory on Durango.

When I checked Trip Adviser, it said there were no hotels there.

I wouldn't mind driving there depending on the input I get here.

Santa Maria del Oro is not in Durango, it's up by Tepic on the way to Mazatlan. There are tons of accomodation places there--maybe you just don't know how to use

We just visited last week... good news and bad news.. bad news hotel lago escondido is no longer a hotel

Good news is there is a new boutique luxury modern separated cabins with jacuzzi and pool. Its called "yemaya adventure club"
Its o the same dirt road to the old lago escondido hotel and the selva restaurant
