Outlook Preview Empty Outlook Preview

Post by tbh1 Wed Nov 25, 2015 11:14 am

I'm wondering if anyone else has been hit with the dreaded Outlook Preview "upgrade" that was announced in May 2015 and has been slowly forced upon live/hotmail/outlook accounts.    Apparently, since September they've picked up the pace and more and more people are being hit with this and hate it to a degree equal to Windows 8!      According to MS there is no going back because it's part of a migration to the Office 365 platform.   So far they have taken over one of my 6 hotmail accounts (yesterday).

Complaints are similar to the usual reaction to change ... things disappear, or are hidden, or options are removed etc. but this one also seems to affect general function, stability(crashes), speed, as well as those who have accounts linked/sync'd to other programs and functions.    People are losing data, folders, messages and the negative feedback seems to be accelerating.   I've just begun to read more about it since it hit me yesterday.     I seldom use this particular account so it hasn't been a big problem but I've already noticed that if I go into the Preview account and then sign out I can no longer get to any of the other hotmail account without closing out every browser session and restarting the browser.     What happens is that when going to hotmail.com, instead of taking me to the sign-in screen it goes directly into the Preview account even though I'd unchecked the "keep me signed in" box AND I'd removed the saved sign-in/password browser entry for that account.     I use FF with Win 7 Pro on a new Dell with everything on the latest version  but people with all the hardware combinations are yelling.

I'm now looking at using gmail, yahoo and some others as primaries.    The thing is that ... it's coming ...

I don't suggest you use Yahoo. Only useful thing is Yahoo groups which is used around here quite a bit for groups. The email product is not the highest supported product putting it gently. I use Gmail without drama but Google does basically own all your information but so does MS with Hotmail. Good luck dealing with changes.

I agree with everything you wrote, and I have accounts with each of them but as with hotmail, I allow only the cookies required to make them work, then they get deleted.    Still, we don't know what else they are doing behind the scenes.     I ran Ghostery for a while and that opens our eyes as to what else is going on, at least some of it.    Thanks.

Correction on original post ... people on all hardware and software combinations are yelling.
