Daytime mugging: Be aware

This was posted on TOB. Since it will likely be deleted, I copied it here. It's the season when this sort of thing happens more often.

Just a heads up for anyone who uses 16 de Septiembre, there was a woman mugged today in broad daylight as she walked near the blue doors at the bottom of Javier Mina. She struggled but the attacker hit her and got away with her purse. Please be aware of your surroundings when out walking. Perhaps there is someone on this board who has more information as to todays happening.

There have been a couple assaults in Chapala as well. But those have been in the evening.

16th de Septiembre, between Javier Mina and Revolucion, has had a few daytime purse snatchings over the past couple of years. It seems it is just quiet enough, with close get away access to the lake front.

Hopefully this woman reported it to MP or at the very least the Policia at the Ajijic plaza.

My 15 year old niece was robbed at knife point leaving her after school job at Walmart in Salamanca,Gto a couple days ago...

It's the Christmas season, all right, and it seems to bring out the very worst in some people. Why? Who knows, but watch your back and your purse in crowds.

Not so much Christmas.....at least not just yet.

Some of the carnival folk and itinerant vendors are arriving in advance of the St. Andres festival and some of them are questionable characters who go from town to town for other festivals and have no ties to any of our communities.

My niece was very scared,now she's reluctant to leave the house.
These cowardly bastards stole her cell phone and the tips she made that day at Walmart.
If these assholes had any huevos they'd be robbing banks,not little girls.

Yep. I witnessed one a year or two ago on 16 de Sept., a few blocks east. The thief was a kid who had a knife and he headed straight for the lakeshore….knowing that "cops don't run".

I saw a few extra cops on motorcycles riding around this area yesterday afternoon. I'm hoping it was because this incident was reported.
