Re: Have you taken the Tequila Train tour?
Took it maybe 5 years ago. Great fun BUT don't expect to do anything productive the day after... There was a factory tour, a lunch outdoors, entertainment - dancers, music, some charro stuff.
We booked a driver to take us to the train and return -- not a usual thing for us to do but that way we could relax and not worry about driving while intoxicated.

Some folks take the train from Guadalajara, but then have very fuzzy recollection of anything beyond the first hour.
Better to drive over to Tequila and take a hotel room. Come home when you can.

Re: Have you taken the Tequila Train tour?
Yes, we have taken this tour three times in the past two years - once by ourselves and twice more with guests. You can book online and then pick up your tickets at Will Call when you arrive.
Get to the station 45 minutes early because there may be long lines and there is some entertainment before the train leaves. Once we booked a ride to the train station, but after that we booked a hotel room (Hotel Frances or Hotel Morales are inexpensive), went up the night before and then took a short cab ride to the station.
The train ride is a lot of fun, and you do not have to drink all the tequila offered as they also have soft drinks and water and some small packaged snacks. The tour of the Heradura hacienda is very interesting, especially the older parts but they also give you a tour of the modern distilling process (in English). The buffet meal is good - traditional Mexican food - and the entertainment includes a ballet folklorico style production. Then short bus trip back to the train for the trip home, which is like attending a Mexican family reunion - sing-alongs, mariachis in the aisles. Great fun and it is an all day affair.
I vote for getting a hotel room on Friday night, taking a cab ride to the train station the next morning and back to the hotel for a second night, then home on Sunday. Then you can take the bus to Gdl. Booking a ride up and back really increases the cost - it would be better to spend that money on an inexpensive hotel, and Hotel Frances is very reasonable.

Re: Have you taken the Tequila Train tour?
I'm not clear about where the hotel(s) is/are.
The train starte/ends in Guadalajara?
Any website(s) for booking a hotel in advance?
Hotel costs.
Thanks all.

Just put “Hoteles en Tequila, Jalisco“ in your search engine.

First of all, there are now two trains for all but those stuck in the dark ages. As for distillery tours, how many do you want to choose from? And for hotels, how about doing a bit of homework and use some of the well known booking sites to figure things out?

I think he is looking for a hotel in Guadalajara, but maybe I'm clueless about where.
