Amped Highpower WIFI Access point and Range extender APA900 RE1900A 800mW !
Had good luck with one Amped WIFI repeater so purchased some high powered WIFI products. These run 800mW instead of the normal 50mW. According to the instructions the access point unit just plugs into the Telecable/Telmex modems. The repeater unit sets in middle of house or dead spot and picks up your original WIFI signal and blasts it out with 800mW using four antenna. 128MB of memory in units and very good build quality . Not cheap at 190USD at Fry's but maybe this is what it takes to punch thru the thick walls here. Good for 14,000 sq ft of coverage. Also include gigabit four or five port network hub. Seven amplifiers used to receive and send. I will measure to see the hit caused by the repeater overhead.
Anybody got any suggestions or knowledge before I start to play.

nothing gets thru masonary walls. our amped repeater seems variable, not as good as we thought it would be. we are going to 300' cat 5 cable and individual wifi hubs from router.

That is what I ended up doing. Works like a dream.

you may want to check out ethernet over power adapter, these are available at Sterens, it uses your house wiring to connect to the modem, and what ever you require to connect, say another wireless AP, in another room. You need two, to make it work.
I have a set, in a second bedroom connected to a raspberry pi, and connected to the modem in the office. Watched all of the MLB games with very few problems.

They have five different Amped repeaters these days. Yep my low power one worked most of the time but new ones I bought have 8 times the power of the small one. Wish I could do cable but can't so I play with WIFI. WIFI does vary with weather and humidity. Put directional antenna ( 360degrees to 90degrees) on WIFI unit and got rid of low power Amped repeater due to increase punch thru big walls. Looking to go another 30 feet and increase the signal from three to four/five bars with higher power so I will find out if something can punch thru two foot thick walls. Did upgrade the low power Amped repeater with a ASUS 9db antenna and that helped. Folks mention two watt units but all talk have not seen a major brand unit. Not sure its legal at two watts. Anybody know what the law is in Mexico?? Am I legal with my US legal .5 watt units. Never seen them in Mexico.

Do you have to be on same phase or same transformer??? I don't quite understand how it works but I have all three phases in my house. I think Phase is the answer.

Re: Amped Highpower WIFI Access point and Range extender APA900 RE1900A 800mW !
Well Rubia is mostly correct. Not much goes thru the thick metal rebar walls with one exception the and that would be the Hawking Technology Directional 360 degrees to 90 degree corner 15dBi antenna. Almost 3/4 of a bar advantage over 9dBi Asus omnidirectional antenna and a full bar advantage over the small antenna that come with unit. Probably need one of the so called they exist 2 watt amps to go thru my walls. Anybody using one of these amps.? Extra power from Amped WIFI access point is not enough to punch thru walls without directional antenna. Unit is easy to set up and very good quality and would be the good basics for a whole house WIFI system. It just won't punch thru walls much better than standard WIFI access point. Please note I found the 2.4 frequency much more useful for going thru walls. Surprisingly the 5.0 frequency band I found useless for going thru walls. I only have 2.4 band antenna so I could not test the 5.0 bands other than the stock antenna that came with unit. Unit with 5.0band designed antenna might work differently maybe.
I will hook up the WIFI repeater next week. Sorry didn't have a better answer for our thick wall problems but directional antenna do help for sure. But as everybody knows wired connections are better sigh.

Can't make repeater work so waiting for technical support. AP works fine.
