Currently up in Dallas, came up to begin the permanente process.
Went to the Mexican consulate today with all the paperwork, only to be told by the woman there that they are not issuing any permanente visas and are waiting for new rules to come in during the summer.
She also said that this consulate does not issue many permanentes as the consular is also responsible for legal affairs and he is a bit tough on issuing them.
So, anyone got any suggestions, based on personal knowledge, of where one might go to get one as easy as possible?
I heard 3rd hand that Laredo might be a good option. Anyone have any recent experience?

Thanks in advance.

We just got ours within 10 days at the consulate in Portland Oregon. You might try a supervisor... I just read a report that someone got theirs in two hours at Laredo but I have no actual experience with them.

I easily got my permanente residente visa to my surprise in about ten days as well here in Portland. I thought I wouldn't qualify but in the end I did! It was easy, but Portland might be to far for you to come. As u know, from our chats I am luckily and blessed to be traveling down to Lakeside with the member tictoc and his precious family. We will be there around the 20th of June. I'm sooo excited! Good luck to u in getting ur visa :)

If you are heading this way Juan, you might want to try the consulate in San Antonio, TX first , before Laredo, as I believe I have heard they are less problematic than Dallas.
Might as well cover all the bases you can, since it wouldn't be that much out of the way.

Some of my clients have gone to Laredo and have reported the process to be very quick and easy... Each conslulate seems to run it's own little fiefdom.

Talk to Spencer. Assuming you had Temporal why didn't you apply for Permanente here?

Ahhh, there's the rub. I've been on a tourist visa for the past 4 years.

You're too well informed about the area to be an ordinary tourist.  Very Happy
