This is just a guess, but I suspect that not too many people are dim enough to build high rises on top of existing faults in the rock.
And regarding the fault line, if you don't believe me, talk to Brad Grieve, P.Eng. MBA. And FYI, Judy has forgotten more about Lakeside than your little friend, Lisa Jorgenson, will ever know.

I really don't care what the former realtor/guru or the home inspector have to say.
Ever heard of seismic engineering?
As a retired builder from California I can assure that I have.
When was the last time a significant earthquake hit the Guadalajara or Chapala areas?

In Chapala it was in the 16th century!!! Let the guru put that in her pipe and smoke it!

My guess is that the last significant earthquake around here corresponded to the last time Mt. Colima was active. Uh oh...what's that plume of smoke I see on the horizon?

Re: If this is for real it is scary - Lake City project
Except for three years living in NYC, I spent my entire pre-Mexico life living on the seismically active US Pacific rim. The fixation/fear so many foreign residents here have with the possibility of earthquakes has always been fascinating to me. My theory is that a lot of people moved here from places where the earth never burped.
Of course, it could happen here. Even Missouri has earthquakes.
But that's why God invented insurance. To not pay for your losses after a catastrophic event.

No, Slainte, I think you are wrong.
The post just disappeared without a sanctimonious lecture including reciting of the rule violated. Neither was there any formal/public shaming by the Issuance of the Fickle Warning Point.
So, there is nothing linking the disappearance of said post to MC.

As Jerry Reed would say......"DANG IT".
But as you say it was to smooth and subtle for my guess.

Re: If this is for real it is scary - Lake City project
I wasn't aware that a earthquake had to happen for the earth to move. I happen to live in a house on one of the faults running thru Ajijic. This particular fault originates over on Nicolas Bravo and you can see the attempt to stabilize the building at the old Canadian consul house on NBravo. There is an iron pole with cross braces every 20 feet. Otherwise its a lovely property. About 12 years ago on Miguel just to the east of Bravo the living room floor literally fell away in a house as did a bedroom floor in our house. Like a sink hole. The house to the south of us regularly sees shifting and settling. Just this evening about 10 my husband told us to look up and the chandeliers were subtly swinging.

Those are all examples of the results of earthquakes...teeny tiny earthquakes.

There is no "automated message".
I didn't see what was deleted however I can see that "Stu" aka Solovino aka Bennie Garcia aka Siesdedos has been punted as well. This thread is not in the Octagon so if you "can't imagine" why a post was deleted then go review the rules.
Other than that maybe Oncesubtle can provide more details.

Re: If this is for real it is scary - Lake City project
I deleted a string of about 9 sequential posts that started with a troll/trap set by stu (seis). It got the expected responses and was followed up by a barrage of over the top insults. Kipi, I think that post of yours was in this string and innocent enough but left standing wouldn't have made any sense to future readers.

Re: If this is for real it is scary - Lake City project
This appeared on Mexpats Lake Chapala yesterday
A very reputable source scoured the halls of the Municipality of Chapala today, and came up with many red flags regarding the proposed LakeCity project.
- - The property identified in the presentation conducted by developers Grupo Naimar last week has not changed hands since 2010, when it was transferred (not sold) to a Mexican man by his grandfather.
- The person whose land would need to be dug up in order for an access road to be built to the Libramiento has not been contacted.
- There are no building permits for that land, nor are any in progress.
- The approximately 48 million pesos required for such a building permit has not been paid.
- There is no environmental impact study for that project.
- No formal project plan has been approved.
Grupo Naimar was presented with this information today at 4:30pm, and has not yet provided a comment. This publication will publish any response when it becomes available.

"Mexpats Lake Chapala" is a local version on facebook of the "Mexpats Guadalajara" facebook page.
There a a lot of local Facebook pages, the most interesting being the Mexican community pages.

that sum for a building permit seems rather questionable indeed.

Apparently the update letter was also sent out by Lisa Jorgenson of the Lake Chapala Reporter [not to be confused with the Guadalajara Reporter], who had been one of the original boosters and who had posted the informational brochures on YouTube. At least she admitted she was wrong.
