Not necessarily. I have had both Jews and Moslems visit my home, when in the Middle East, just to enjoy that forbidden delicacy to which I had access; just not at the same time. Evil or Very Mad They never did tell their wives.

Enjoying the bacon while I'm here, way better than Raincouver and a fraction of the cost. Did I mention the eggs ? Ditto.

Bacon is the biggest thing veggie folks have a problem with wanting.  The smell is even better than the taste.

STOP, PLEASE! I have had breakfast already and you are making me hungry again. My waist is already fighting my new and larger belt. Besides, I am no longer in Chapala and have to make do with grocery store bacon until we make a trip to the Mexican carniceria in south Tucson.

Borderriever, check your calculation again. Bacon here is Very expensive. At Walmart it works out to $6.40/lb Cdn (42.30P/250gr on sale). If you have a cheaper place, please let me know. I can get a pound back in Ontario for under $4 almost anytime. Thanks.

Liver wrapped with bacon and held in place with tooth picks and barbequed on the grill is another way to enjoy both. Also, for the onions, form a heavy aluminum foil cup shaped container, flatten the bottom of an onion and insert and keep filling the cup with beer, any old cheap beer until tender and add to the barbecue for a great meal. Serve the onion in the foil container.

Wow. Price isn't everything! However, I pay 50 pesos for a half kilo (1.2lbs) of thick-cut butcher bacon at the place by the stairs in the Chapala Mercado. That is $3.31US at today's rate for over a pound.

Bacon? Empty Bacon

Post by Kiri Mon Mar 30, 2015 3:09 pm

We got thick sliced bacon at the deli counter of Walmart in Galerias Plaza, $127 pesos per kilo, sliced as you like.  Best bacon we have ever had.  It was Corona, and I asked to see it before slicing.  Perhaps our Walmart Lakeside does the same thing, and has the same brand?  Oh, and when I originally asked at the meat counter in Walmart Galerias, the man behind the meat count escorted us to the deli counter, and told them what we wanted.  Now, that's customer service!

No, didn't take the crappy tire money! We'll have to get more of that bacon this week. It is almost gone. Maybe not a good thing to have found!

Just before the bacon "fad" got big, "news" in the USA reported a pending bacon shortage. Conspiracy?
