You might want to talk to Valerie Friesen at Blue Angel Solutions. She's at Plaza Interlago 21 in the corner behind the Pemex station on the Libramiento. She represents several companies and can explain options, depending on what insurance you have now in another country, your age, whether you are full-time here, etc. 766-0547.
I'd also recommend you sign up for Seguro Popular or IMSS as a back-up.

Segura Popular will supply basic drugs before your deductible kicks in and all shots, which are never covered by your deductible. Some offices will also offer x-rays and blood tests.

We have been members of SP for 4 years now and find that they are very seldom out of the drugs prescribed and the service they provide is excellent.

Perhaps at your office. If the one I need is out, then they specify the next available date...I wait a few extra days and I nearly always get the item. I am not a great defender of government plans...but matched with our Met Life plan...this covers the gaps caused by our deductible. Please note that your free contract will also get you a discount at almost any other hospital outside the government system.
I also forgot that we get free amoeba treatment, if needed; vitamins if we want them; mini-physical...inc weight, blood pressure, diabetic sugar test, etc

WE are residents of Jocotepec and use that office. The new hospital, which is affiliated with segura popular will be open in Jocotepec soon...it is many months overdue.

We use Healthcare International Inc. out of the UK. They offer an excellent healthcare program. You can obtain a fast quote online and compare plans. See their website at www.healthcareinternational.com
We are happy with the plan we chose and their professionalism when handling claims. Good luck.

When you are sick and have to go to the hospital, who do they have here to help you?

If you mean a private helper, I know of a great Mexican nurse who goes with people to help them with their needs at hospitals or at home. Her English is good.

Re: Medical Insurance in Mexico
I think the poster is asking if they have a rep here to help with your claim. All the major insurers in Mexico have staffed offices in most all of the hospitals in Guadalajar.

Re: Medical Insurance in Mexico
No I mean your insurance agent to help you get checked in and out and to make sure the bill is correct and it is submitted as a claim when you are discharged so you don't have to pay up front.

Re: Medical Insurance in Mexico
Same thing. My agent didn't help be get checked, simply not necessary, I just showed my insurance card. He did help me get checked out since the rep in the hospital didn't want to approved a couple of items. My agent took care of that. It's important to have a local rep unless you never have a claim. It that's the case then you don't need insurance anyway!

Yes a local rep is very important. I am not fluent in Spanish (I get by and still learning) but many times I have in need of medical care the insurance claim person did not speak Spanish to my rep was there for me to make sure everything ok.

Who do you mean by “they“? The insurance company does not provide anyone to stay with you in the hospital. You must have a spouse or friend with you. Otherwise, you would have to hire a private helper, as indicated above. Mexican hospitals require that you have someone with you. The nurses provide medical care; not practical nursing care or assistance.

Re: Medical Insurance in Mexico
The high end hospitals do not require anyone to be with you . Just went through that this week. It is a good idea to have someone with you but it is not a requirement. In the lower end you must have someone with you if you need anything.

Re: Medical Insurance in Mexico
The question was regarding help from the insurance company with the claim, not personal assistance while hospitalized.

Yes David is correct. About claims, not help with personal care.

Re: Medical Insurance in Mexico
I have been in four hospitals in Guadalajara lower and higher end and I they never was required another person to be with me. At IMSS and hospital civil it would be required.
