IEPS tax - Special tax on production & services (gas & diesel)

Maybe I have not been paying attention, but noticed this for the first time today on a SuperLake sales ticket. 8% added on for non-basic food with 275 kilocalories or more per 100 grams (dried cranberries, dried kiwi, crystal ginger etc). The IEPS applies to gas & diesel, tobacco & alcohol products, soft drinks and some other stuff, some up to 160%. Hope this helps the state pass more money on down to the municipality.

Since Mexicans drink more Coke than any other nation, therefore more sugar, you've got a nation of fat diabetics. The government is simply trying to fund the billions of US dollars needed to address this sorry state. Do your part. Never buy a Mexican national a Coke. It's poison. They're nice people. Get it. Maybe an aqua fresca or a bootle of water.
