New Years Eve Empty New Years Eve

What is New Years Eve like in Ajijic Village? We will be arriving on 12/30 and have never spent New Years Eve in Mexico before. Do the restaurants inflate the prices, can we even get in for a dinner? Are there a lot of people out and about? Noisy or quiet? Do the taxi 's run? Are the taxi 's running at night now? Any info would be great, can't wait to get to town. Mrs. Hogline

Most restaurants will be full early but not late.  Many have prix fixe dinners, but not inflated prices.  It will be noisy.  Yes, the taxis are running now and then too.

If you plan on staying out late then I would recommend having the name and number of a taxi to call. You won't find them just sitting at the plaza (after about 7:00pm) or cruising around looking for a fare. You will need to call a specific driver.

Loud cohetes (to the detriment of many lol!) , lots of fireworks, and a few people firing off live rounds of ammunition in the air, in celebration of course, but not as much as in  days gone by.
And the usual eating and drinking.  Puerto Vallarta is where they up the prices....legally.
