Canada Revenue Agency Empty Canada Revenue Agency

Post by The Postman Sat Sep 20, 2014 12:00 pm

Received an e-mail today from (CRA) Canada Revenue Agency with a refund form attachment. The e-mail read I am entitled to a $248.25 refund. I have to just click here and fill out the form then wait for my refund. My question is does Canada usually send out refunds to former Minnesotans? I know we share borders so it could be real. maybe?

And, what information is the "CRA" asking you for?

the cra does not communicate through e-mails. they do it by snail mail. in any event, they would have either sent a cheque or deposited it in your bank account if that's the way you get refunds.
IT'S A PHISHING SCAM TO GET PERSONAL INFO FROM YOU. GET RID OF IT AND BLOCK IT. IT IS NOT THE CRA!

Thanks Pedro
I know nothing about Canada's taxmen so I was surprised about the refund and thought I would ask. I won't open it.

Yes, it is a scam. I posted in another thread that I received a similar e-mail a few weeks ago. I had my accountant in Canada check it out and he told me not to respond.

Be aware of any email that asks for personal information such as passwords and userids or asks you to click onto a web site you are not familiar with. They can download malware.

They are scams.
