Sure, the amount stated can be way off - depends where and for what you are hospitalized. Due to a severe illness, I had a recent 3 day stay in a top quality hospital in Guanajuato with total charges of less than US$400 per day, including US$55 per day for a private room that was like a 5-star hotel room. Not $35, but still it was a fraction of what it would have been in any hospital in the U.S.
