i think visas are issued through the embassy in df. that may have changed though. the consulate in guadalajara can most likely answer your question.
it might be easier to go to gov't of canada website to pose yer question. that's what i usually do first.

when ya get right down to it,guadaljara is not a real consulate. it barely qualifies as a trade mission even. the us consulate has well over 100 employees and the canadian about 8 and that is why the us can have people come down to chapala on ocassion and canuckles can't.

The former Consul officer, Yvonne Chin, was the senior trade official for Mexico.

no she wasn't-as i said,it's nothing but a minor trade mission. the "senior" trade officials are in the embassy in df. the province of alberta has an office there as well.
alberta is twinned with jalisco by the way but does not have an office here. lotsa trade deals educational info exchanges, etc. done.

Sorry, but wrong again. Yvonne was the Senior Trade Official for Mexico. Her boss was in DF, the Ambassador. Or, believe what you wish. It makes me no mattter.
Yvonne is now the Trade Minister for Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia residing in Bangkok.

It is a resident visa question and I have gone over the website for the counsel ate in Guadalajara and there is no way to get any information by phone and really the site is mostly informational and won't serve my purpose.
I thought at one time there was someone from the office that came Lakeside to help with passport matters just as someone from the American office does/did?
I'll check more.
Thanks.
I have no desire to go to Mexico City.

Call the Consulate, they'll likely know the answer or put you in contact with the right person in DF.

i'll say it again-go to the main government of canada website for a visa question. your question will be answered correctly. why would you even bother with guadalajara or the embassy in df. if you are a us citizen you don't need a visa to visit, just your passport. we canadians can go to the excited states with a canadian passport.Clueless wrote:It is a resident visa question and I have gone over the website for the counsel ate in Guadalajara and there is no way to get any information by phone and really the site is mostly informational and won't serve my purpose.

what is your actual question? if you wish to immigrate-there is no retirement visas like in mexico
-have at least $500,000 to invest in business and hire canadians. if you wish to have a 2 year foreign work visa a company that wishes to hire you has to apply and do all the paper work and i can tell you that at present there is a big brewhaha about foreign workers and its not welcoming. so again-what is your question?
there was never anyone that came to chapala to help with passports even for us canadian citizens-never!

Re: Does someone from the Canadian Counsel's office come to Lakeside?
Yvonne Chin was Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner at the Consulate in Guadalajara and as such was responsible for the States of Aguascalientes, Colima, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Nayarit and Sinaloa. As such she reported to the Canadian Consul General in Mexico City and the Minister Counselor/Senior Trade Commissioner in Mexico City.
After her term was over she was allowed a one year sabbatical which she and her husband elected to take in Thailand. That vacation is over and at the present time I do not know where she has been posted.
She is not listed on the Canadian Trade Commission's website in Thailand.
