Driver’s license
What paperwork does one need to renew driver’s license, and what is the earliest we can renew before the license expires?

Re: Driver’s license
You can renew about the time the license expires or even afterwards. Because my wife was caught in the visa renewal delay, hers expired but she was able to renew it 4 months after it had done so.
Bear in mind that if the Jalisco license expires, you would be driving on an expired license. She used her Texas license in the interim period.

Yes I did, but I was looking for the answer yesterday, not last year. Using the search engine I found this and thought MC would have given the info. He didn't and nobody else did either.

Mainecoons is no longer a member of this board. You might ask on TOB.

Re: Driver’s license
I got my license in QROO today. No written test, no driving test, no morida. It took 15 minutes and 437 pesos for a shofar license. It is good for 2 years.
It took longer to drive to the office than the time I spent in the office.

Re: Driver’s license
Itsme, have you an answer? The Jalisco site said you pnly needed your previous license. At least that's what I found. HOWEVER; we are due for another renewal and the last time, 2011, we needed all the crap we had - passports, FM's, proof of address and copies thereof. So would love to know what you go through and needed. Our last renewal was in Guadalajara.

Re: Driver’s license
Pedro I only spent 15 minutes in their offices. They gave me 2 years chofer type license. I never questioned them, said muchos gracias and went on my way.

Again, everything you need to bring with you is listed on that website I linked above. Once you access the page, click on the link "Qué necesito para realizar esté trámite?".

Re: Driver’s license
Add CURP to your list. Proof of residency. IFE or visa. Mexican driver's license. Payment receipt from where you get your license plates paid for. I cannot remember anything else.

Re: Driver’s license
Rosa, I must be dumber than a skunk. (whatever that expression means). I went to the link you gave - Que necesitio..... and all I found was..........
¿Qué documentos obtendré al finalizar? with the answer.........
Licencia de Automovilista
If its so easy please just copy and paste if there is more to it than that because I simply can not find it.
Since all these documents suggested were given to them when you got your first license it seemed logical to me that all you would need was your expiring license. I look forward to itsme's personal experience.
As an aside I found out today ---- my old fm2 and 3's had a CURP. My Residente Permenante does not. For what I need it for, SRE, I have to get a new Residente Perm. with the CURP on it.
You really gotta love bureaucracy in all forms in all countries.

Re: Driver’s license
In the most comprehensible "skunk or stump" language, I can use.....
Go to the link mentioned, then to the middle box, which says.....
?Que necesito para realizer este tramite?
Bingo! Everything is listed there that you should carry to whatever location you choose for renewal.

Re: Driver’s license
Well, in driving for over 50 yrs and having had my license in Sinaloa as well as Colima....I managed to fail the written exam today in Ocotlan!!!! I am in total shock as well as dismay. I actually read through the regs as well as the law and really didn't find anything very clearly helpful there..so I came home and found a website that shows the signs and their meanings but nothing on the hand signs used by transito...the one that was on my exam - I've never seen before in Mexico.
My question: Is there anything in print or online that might be useful for my next try in 3 weeks?

Re: Driver’s license
Was it a hand sign given inside the car door, below the side window level??
Seriously, I haven't seen anything like that, but did you ask at the Vialidad testing office if they have any info for the things you didn't know, or got wrong.

Re: Driver’s license
No, they would be hand signals used by transito officers when directing traffic.
They had no handouts and directed to the website of the SEMOV.
ARRRGGHHH!!!!!!

The UTube is, but the still image second from the left is transito hand signals if you can enlarge it.
