Windscreen for my moto has suffered both chemical and minor physical damage. I need to find a source in the Lakeside area who can polish it to clarity. Any suggestions / leads would be appreciated.

There is a guy working the Walmart parking lot who treats plastic head light lenses and clears up the fog. He uses a very fine polishing agent and a super fine araisive paper. Worked wonders on my head lights. Maybe for your windscreen as well. He is honest so get his opinion.

Try Pablo's Garage, next to the Japanese Gardens #525.

Hours he has posted are 9-3 and 4-6:30.

Nice guy, if you can find him at the garage. He polished my headlight lens on my van when I had it. I had tried a couple different guys in the parking lots, who said they could do it. WRONG!!

Pablo uses a polishing machine and mine came out just like new.

If you can find a pilots supply store, they have kits to polish airplane windshields that are plastic.

It's been about 20 years since I've done one but there are 3-4 compounds and cloths. You start with one compound and go in one direction, then the second and go 90 degrees, etc. It takes about an hour to do a windshield but it works wonders.

How long does it last. A little polish will make it look good for a few weeks

Hey sparky,

A little polish wasn't the answer for my lens. The UV ray's from the sun had these lens completely fogged over.

This was done a year before we took the car to Texas to sell, and the lens were still like new. Pablo had a slow rpm polishing machine that he used on mine.

A few years back, we stopped for lunch in Patzcuaro and a guy approached us to wash, wax and polish the headlights of our Ford Winstar. I allowed that $200MXN sounded like a decent deal and we agreed. So we took off for a leisurely lunch on Plaza Grande and some walking around. Probably were gone two hours and he was done. The wax job was more than adequate and the headlight polishing was still great two years later here in New Mexico where we not only get the high altitude UV effects but occasionally are forced to drive through sand and dust storms. Since we didn't stay around for the actual job to watch, I have no idea how he did it but I do know that we would have paid $20+ for just the headlight polishing here in Albuquerque!

Thanks one and all, but this is not a case of fogged plastic. This is a case of both physical and chemical damage. Someone painted and then tried to remove the paint from this windscreen. They first used some kind of chemical stripper; then used some kind of scraper. It's a mess for 1/16" of its thickness over the whole windscreen. I have seen these recovered, but it usually takes a professional plastics house. I just don't know where to find one. Sorry I wasn't more specific to begin with.   Need to have a plastic windscreen polished 477249
