Access Problems
I have two computers. One is an older computer "downgraded" from Windows 7 to Windows 8. I'm running Chrome as a browser.
My even older laptop is on Vista, also running Chrome.
Yesterday morning, on the W8 machine, I couldn't get into Inside Lakeside. The little wheel just spun and spun. I thought "Fine. They're down and will be back up later." Last evening, I logged in from the Vista machine with no problem.
I'm not positive, but I think I may have logged in from the W8 machine in the afternoon, but I can't be sure.
This morning, again the wheel is spinning on W8. I can't get in.
So, I immediately went to the laptop and logged in with no problem at all.
I have no Idea whatsoever whether the problem is at the Chapala end or mine.
I should add that I haven't noticed any problems with other sites on the W8 computer-- although the computer itself has been rather slow lately. (Ironically, I let myself be talked into switching to W8 because it "would help my computer run much faster!")
Any suggestions or advice? (I am seriously considering retrofitting to W7 anyway but it will mean the same pain I went through before: changing drivers, etc., not to mention throwing good money after bad.)
Bob
PS I'll keep trying to access the website during the day to see if anything changes.

Re: Access Problems
Emails I received this morning indicating problems being experienced by a member:
"Neil, can you log on? When I try it says I’ve entered an incorrect user name or password."
"I’ve been banished for 90 minutes is the message I now receive, cause I’ve made 10 unsuccessful attempts. I don’t log out either....but was when I tried to get on line this morning"
I have Vista on my laptop and am using the latest version of Firefox. I do not log out when leaving the forum.

Re: Access Problems
This morning neither of my lap tops would accept my pass word, plus after many attempts on each computer over a one hour period I hit a web limit of 10 attempts and was given a 90 minute time out.
Thanks to CB's help all is good again!

Re: Access Problems
No problems here on any of our laptops (2 windows7, 1 windows8).
We run firefox on all computers.
Maybe it's because I live such a clean life.

I am in. Now I can't watch videos. Also I see " the words new post" " or you posted in thread" I am trying icons now cause I see words instead of emoticons. Nope... All the options to bold italics etc is gone gone gone.

Re: Access Problems
I started having access problems today. I get the spinning wheel and white space. I can access TOB with no problem. It takes multiple attempts, going away for alwhile and returning again for more attempts until finally it just opens as though there was never a problem.

Re: Access Problems
For the first time ever, I found the site to be extremely slow loading this morning and finally decided that it was probably me. Shut down Firefox completely and ran Advanced System Care and CC Cleaner. Totally amazing - this site was as fast as it ever has been!

Re: Access Problems
I've tried tuning my machine, downloading all outstanding updates for W8--everything I can come up with.
I also left it trying to load for quite a period in case it was just slow, but no luck.

Re: Access Problems
Thanks for the tip, Cheena. I did a tune-up and it seems to have fixed the problem--at least so far.

Re: Access Problems
I've had problems with this site for the last few days also. I've noticed them especially in the mornings. For What That's Worth....not much.
No problems on other sites so can't be bothered to do computer calisthenics, etc.

Re: Access Problems
I have also been having problems with this website for the last few days. Pages start to load and get to about 40 percent and then it hangs for over a minute before the page is displayed.
Whoever is hosting your server needs to do some maintenance work I think or check code if they have made changes recently. I don't have any problems loading other sites. And my internet speed is 8Mbps down 2Mbps up.

Re: Access Problems
While it can be easy for any of us to blame any of our problems on the site, I have absolute knowledge that running Advanced System Care (take 20 to 30 minutes) and CC Cleaner that takes less than 5 minutes - any complaints that I would have had with site speed and other issues went away. That tells me that the problems originated in my laptop!

Jim:
Advanced System Care: http://www.iobit.com/advancedsystemcareper.html
I started off with the free version and was happy enough with it that I went to the paid version since it does more. I felt the value was there and have been happy with the results especially when I follow it with a scan with the free version of CC Cleaner.

Re: Access Problems
Neil, This has nothing to do with defrag functions?

Re: Access Problems
Jim:
Did I state that it had anything to do with defrag? As a matter of fact, when one runs Advanced System Care, one of the processes is a defrag function but that doesn't seem to be a primary function? The way that I view the entire problem, it is far to easy to blame the source and make them try to figure out the problems while more may be centered at my end with cookies and other issues? Today was a perfect example (to me)!
Meanwhile of greater importance, GO DENVER BRONCOS!

Re: Access Problems
Neil, thank you for the roast, as I am computer illiterate, and when I searched Advanced System Care, I defraged, not knowing the difference, so I think I will take a chill pill, relax, and avoid future impositions........GO NEW ENGLAND, BTW!

Re: Access Problems
No Kidding! I have been a fan since 1966 when I started college in Denver and the team was absolutely horrible! I have been a season ticket holder and also stupid enough to give them up in the 70's. No matter what, they are my team and I figure on another Super Bowl appearance!

I am running Android 4.3. Are those programs available for Android? I doubt the problem is with my smartphone because I'm not having problems with other sites. I have cleaned caches.
