Access Netflix via VPN? It may be over soon.
Hi, I was reading this article regarding the pressure being put on Netflix to close the ability to stream it's content via VPN. The article cites Australia but it will apply to all VPN users if implemented.
The article: http://gizmodo.com/n...hole-1636210923
A solution: http://www.gizmodo.c...o-making-a-vpn/
What do you think?

How are they going to determine you are using a VPN? All they have access to is your IP address. They can find patterns of activity which point to a VPN provider, this is why they are always changing their fixed DNS or use random DNS access. An individual owned and operated VPN would be hard to spot, not without a lot of work.

HI,
My apologies for the NG 2nd link.
It should have been: http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2013/04/the-simple-guide-to-making-a-vpn/
A 2nd & 3rd article article appeared today:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/2685611/major-studios-pressure-netflix-to-block-vpn-access.html
http://www.forbes.com/sites/ianmorris/2014/09/17/netflix-is-under-pressure-to-ban-vpn-use/
They could never be 100% effective in blocking all VPNs but they could block the major ones as Hulu reportedly did. It would be a pain to have to keep changing VPNs as they added your current one to the list.
They would block your VPN not an individuals IP address.

I have always wanted to say this -my Hola gets through to Hulu, no problem. This is from Mexico, using Firefox, and everything completely free. I like that Western Comedy, exclusive to Hulu - Quickdraw. My wife likes the British shows.

VPN can be detected depending on methods BUT VPN can be upgraded as time goes on to deal with the new threats of detection. This is how this computer stuff works. People who use VPN are considered bad guys in some areas of computer security but no laws are broken using VPN contrary to what some Internet providers are saying at least for now. You can be sure the Hollywood lobby will continue to make people lives miserable as this is what they do. Remember them arresting five year olds for downloading Disney and fining the family 5000 buck USD. Remember Hollywood hates you but they still want your Money laugh out loud. Idiots who hate the customer.
