ASIAN MARKET - An Excellent Korean/Asian Grocer
We were visiting Guadalajara a few months ago having some medical lab work done when we stumbled on this incredible Korean owned "Tienda Oriental" known as ASIAN MARKET near the Glorieta Colon where Av. Americas and Av. Lopez Mateos converge at the glorieta. This extremely well-stocked market is across Av. Americas from a huge Soriana Super market at Av. Americas #881 near where Calle Colomos intersects with Av. Americas. The market is owned by a friendly and accomodating Korean family and they sell a large variety of Korean, Japanese and other Asian food products, high-end rice cookers and so forth. They sell a number of different types of very good kim chi preparations as well as some sausages and other prepared food products. Dawg is a kim chi freak and I go there to stock up on several types of kim chi and all sorts of excellent and authentic Korean-style condiments straight from the old country. Within walking distance of the store there are Korean restaurants as well but, as we have always visited there in the morning before the restaurants have been opened we haven´t tried any of them.
On our second trip to this fine store, we took along a Korean friend and it was "old home week" all the way around. A fun place and, I´d say perhaps your best source of Korean products for cooking at home you will find in the Guadalajara metro area.
There is plenty of good parking in front of the store.
