Break in in Chula Vista Empty Break in in Chula Vista

Post by TexMex Sun Sep 16, 2012 9:24 am

We were gone to dinner for about an hour yesterday evening. When we returned, our house had been broken into, our second break in in four months. They broke the lock on the metal door in the carport, then had to pry the door open with something (a crowbar?) to break the wall, bend the metal doorframe, and break off the welded metal that was holding a large padlock on the inside of the door. We didn't notice anyone hanging around when we left, but I'm wondering if it is the same guy I just read about in El Tampesque and Rancho del Oro lately. Geez, everyone's so worried about the narcoviolence. Never had a problem with it and never felt threatened - I'm more worried about the petty criminals! And the homeowners in Chula Vista are so hateful to each other (everyone knows of the homeowner problems in Chula Vista over the last few years!) that we can't get any agreement on security measures for the neighborhood!

So, this is upper CV? Not lower?
Sorry this happened to you, hope you find a way to better protect your home so you feel safer. Apparently the person saw you leave, check local gardeners, cars parked, bicycles parked, etc.
Suerte.

Yes, upper CV. I think we have had as many break ins as there are houses in the last 6 months. It has to be people familiar with the neighborhood and the cars, probably someone watching near the entrance who can see when people are leaving and returning, and calling the others on a cell phone to alert them. We only have one car so maybe when we're leaving together from now on, one of us should duck down in the car so that it looks like only one of us leaving!

What happened to the prior thread about this, or is this a new robbery. Cameras were mentioned.

It's in this section, at the end of the the Burglary Wed. Sept. 15 Tempiesque thread.
