Remember the toll road cost get much higher depending on the number of axles
you have. Just a car or truck is $120USD from Lukeville Arizona to Guadalajara.

I am a single 61 yr. woman. Is it safe for me to drive alone from Texas (obviously not Laredo) to Ajijic?

Yes. However it's suggested that you drive only during daylight hours.

I'm a couple of years older and have done it several times each way. They say it's now only a 10 hr instead of 12 drive but I usually stop in Matehuala one night at either Las Palmas or the "no-tell" motel at the Catorce Real turn off just north of town. I gas up in Laredo and then more gas just south of Saltillo at the mouth of the pass into the "Snakeskin" desert. Or you can get gas by the airport on the Monterrey bypass. I don't go into Monterrey cause there is just too much trouble there.
