I just saw this picture of some nice sized carp that were recently caught out of our very own lake.

Does anyone actually eat them? Are there other fish in the lake that people catch and eat? I used to see alot of lake clams when I was wading in the lake. Does anyone purge them and eat them? Just wondering....

I used to fish for carp in Lake Chapala. The larger fish can put up quite a battle and are fun to catch on lightweight gear. As for eating them my Mexican neighbors, house keeper and maintenance man loved taking them home. From what I understand they make a rockin' cevechi.

There is also some tilapia and apparently black bass in the lake. All the locals eat the fish. They make Charales out of the minnows.

I've seen a lot more fish action around the boat. Quite a few thrashing and stirring up the water yesterday. Not sure what they were.

Probably tilapia as they are surface feeders. Carp, catfish and bass like the bottom.

Or it was the manatee........ Lol.

I think I've bounced over a couple of manatee.
