buying a trailer in Mexico Empty buying a trailer in Mexico

Post by espíritu del lago Fri May 10, 2013 5:08 pm

If I buy a trailer in Mexico to bring personal belongings to USA, I'll be on a tourist visa.

What to I need to know. How are these purchases handled in Mexico. This being said the price of trailer would have to be right ,the trailer will remain in Texas. So it will be reverse of importing one to Mexico.

Thanks in advance.

You need legal advice, not guesses from a webboard, as you are describing a very unique situation.

Yeah, let's all vote on what Espiritu should do, then whatever the most people say wins.

Or he could find out the exact situation from an attorney like INTERCASA... who is awesome and knows this stuff forwards and backwards.

Either way.

Hockables, you have to have a customs broker export a mule, and it costs around $500. Plus you need a trailer. I think Espiritu is trying to SAVE money.

Espiritu:

You don't state what license plates the trailer currently has. If they are NOB plates - there is a good chance they are listed on someone's TIP?

If you are buying a foreign plated trailer, I hope that you know that the trailer is tied to the vehicle that towed it into Mexico and both must be returned to the border at the same time and within the time period of the permit for both vehicles. If you are buying a Mexican plated trailer, I do not have a clue. As I said earlier, do not rely on responses from a webboard. Look at some of the foolish answers you have already been given. You need legal advice.

No... I am moving sentimental things of mine and my fathers. Some of these things I have had and my Dad had since the sixties up to the present. I am eventually getting rid of my home. For now I just want to get my special memory items. Dad has been dead many years now.
