Ouch!

For many years we have used B of A no-fee ATM cards for pesos. But the exchange rate looks like it's about to head south of 12:1.

I'm afraid this is the new normal for awhile. While I was here when it was as low as 10:1, we've been spoiled by much higher pesos to USD for the past 5 or so years.

Anyone else feeling the pinch?

nope. it was 6.42 +/- to a cdn $ in 2000 when we made the decision to move here. a pack of marlboros was 12 pesos[now 43] and a pack of smokes in alberta was around 7 bucks-now about 14 bucks.
perspective.

So using smokes as the example, if the CDN money has doubled it's worth (now approx. 12 to 1) and inflation here has almost quadripled (from 12p to 43p) then the difference today is only double just like that pack of smokes in Alberta, so it is all relative. No?

(2000) smokes - $1.87 CDN
(2013) smokes - $3.58 CDN

3.58 ain't 14 bucks which is what yvonne is gonna pay in 2 weeks fer smokes there. i know there ain't no hockey here but how much is a cup of molsons at a canucks game. bet it's more than 15pesos. like maybe more than a 6 pack fer one lousy cup.mucho relative. everything here is still cheap cheap cheap
