Magic Jack Crap

While trying to set up a Magic Jack that hasn't been used in a year, here's what I discovered:

To keep the same Canadian number, I have to pay $10 for the year it wasn't used.
To get the same Canadian number reinstated, another $10.
Then there's the $29.95 yearly fee.

Okay, I told them to stuff it and give me a new number. Guess what?
$10 for a Cdn number
$10 "admin fee"
$29.95 for the year.

Can't win with these arseholes. Oughta be a law. Any way I look at it, it's $50.

They must have taken the same marketing class as Shaw Direct. You can play with their channel packages until you're blue in the face and won't save a dime.

I have been happier with NetTalk than Majic Jack other than one small problem hooking up to Telmex modem. You can also pay for five years and
be done with them for a while. It works great as long as the bandwidth holds up. Majic jack always seemed touchier to me.

I paid for 5 years with Magic Jack and just today the unit died. They are shipping me a replacement (to my home in Canada).

I think I will look into Net talk Beer

So much for good service......you got 5 years of cheap LD, as did Helper Guy.......$50.00 bucks....how cheap can it get? Free?

Been using MJ for 5 years now with no problems at all. About 2 years ago we renewed for 5 years at a cost of 49.95, have never paid a penny more and never been asked for more money. Got to agree with JW, how cheap does it have to get?

Not complaining about the quality or the long-term plans. Used to be $19.95, and of course everything goes up... complaining about the "nickle-and-diming" at 10 bucks a pop. Especially at charging for a number that is not in use. So basically a $30 fee becomes a $50 fee. And that extra $10 for a Cdn number is payable every year.
