approximate cost to replace transmission?
Does anyone know the approximate cost to replace the transmission in a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan? The vehicle is high mileage but otherwise in excellent condition, and I am considering whether to repair or to replace.

David is correct. He's my new go to Mechanic for everything. Call him first to see if he's there.

Pablo is awesome. He has fixed everything and anything that came up on our SUV...he showed up one night at 10Pm with a computer printout of parts he needed from the US so we could bring them back. He is honest...fair and when your car parts get stolen knows how to get them back from Guad...of course for a price but doggone it this guy is good.

Re: approximate cost to replace transmission?
We found a place in Guad. - no one here would do the transmission
rebuilt- one of the places farmed it out to a place in guad- and they
"fixed it" - one week later back to same problem. We then took
the advice of someone on TOB and went to Alca- run by an english
speaking man, Gabriel- the first place had our truck for 6 weeks-
Gabriel had truck in and out in four days- our total bill was 12,000
pesos - he also did oil, changed the shock absorbers, and one other
thing- which i have forgotten. you wil not go wrong with this man.
car totally protected at his garage- also very, very clean shop.
his phone number in guad is 333-619-4352. email is alca00@prodigy.net.mx
hope this helps- address is Estadio #94 - near old bus station so easy to
get home.

Thanks to all of you for the recommendations. I will investigate both options.
