Too Many Topics?
After a lengthy absence returned and in my opinion too many topics and sub topics. For example love to know about other parts of Mexico but are all the sub topics needed with each area?

There is no such thing as too much request for information.

Re: Too Many Topics?
When one compares the format of this forum to others, the format has logic and does a damned fine job of categorizing topics except when forum members decide that their particular topic is of key importance and belongs in the "General Discussion" to attract the most attention. A direct result of such action is that the poster is making more work for the Mods who have to take the time to move ill placed topics in the interest of keeping the forum organized. How hard is it to give a bit of thought to ones actions and give consideration to the Mods?

Kind of like jumping the line at the movies. Not fair.

John:
You used the excuse when posting a repeat topic in the General Discussion section that some people don't read the Octagon. Did you stop to think that many of us with a good deal of experience on this forum do recognize those topics with the potential to degrade and stick them in the Octagon right from the get go? Based upon your track record of getting into "I know more than you" pizzing matches with other like minded posters with ego issues, maybe it might be best to put all of your topics in the Octagon right from the get go?

Talking about too many threads, Ajijic just duplicated a successful one so his would get more visibility!! The Octogon is the one to go to if you want visibility . This one just died...

Oh, don't worry so much about where to put a topic, many things can go into multiple categories. The Mexico category basically has Northern, Southern, Jalisco and the states directly around us.
You should also find that people are kinder and nicer outside of the Octagon than when you were here last.

I do believe there is a situation where everyone is using the “View posts since last visit” (front page) so unless posting, this is what people are reading. I don’t understand the grief?

Parker, that's not what the original poster said, you might want to read the original post - he or she returned after a long absence, wants to find out about other places in Mexico, but is confused by so many sub-topics.

Ajijic aka John has a long history on various Mexico forums and while he took a break from this forum, he was living in Mexico the entire time. He lived in the Lake Chapala area but moved to San Miguel de Allende. Like many of us, he is very opinionated and would like to believe that he is a resident expert on many things Mexico. The reality is that there are so few absolutes in Mexico, it makes it a virtual impossibility to be an expert!

Re: Too Many Topics?
How can there be too many topics anyways? Maybe they need to be rearranged but many topics is a good thing.
