The younger set like acid rock or other noise comprised of 3 or 4 chords. Very dull IMO.
Actually, quite a bit of progressive rock is heavily influenced by Rachmaninoff. Funnily enough I know one classical concert pianist who throws in his own treatment of Metallica, just to keep 'em guessing.
Axixic could you mention some titles? Rachmaninoff as written was frequently used in movies. Especially famous was Shine.
Thanks

Good to know... thanks. We also emailed to try for reservations when we had company in town, but no response. Too bad, as I think she would have enjoyed it. We'll give it another shot for just the two of us. Glad to hear you're off to a roaring start.

Lots of progressive rock bands in the 70s - Yes, Rick Wakeman, and mostly Renaissance (not as commercially successful but a very capable band).

Despite the name it isn't really a "piano lounge" - it's a show lounge. Shows at 8:00 pm Friday and Sunday and we are experimenting with two shows on Saturday at 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM. It is at 14 Morelos - one block up from the pier and one block West of LCS. There's a map on the website.
Is there anyone who lives in Chapala that frequents this place? Would love to go some night, but my budget doesn't really allow for cabs and I don't have a vehicle.

Don't really know, Tony. Maybe talk to your friends/neighbours there and see if you can get a carpool up for one night.

Re: End of the world T.V. shows
This of course suggests that we have accepted the fact that there will be a day, which is just as ludicrous as saying we know when it will be.Tony_In_Mexico wrote:No Christian who reads the Bible believes in this whole 'world ending next month' thing. At least they shouldn't. Bible is pretty clear that no man can know the day. Matthew 24:36 - "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."

Re: End of the world T.V. shows
Just home after our first "experiment" with two shows on a Saturday Night and, with all modesty, I must say it was a rocking success. I thought the early show was good but the later (sold out) show really kicked a$$! Those who were there know what I am saying: Joanna really rises to the occasion.

Actually Bob, you won't see me - I will be on my way to Dominican Republic for my annual rum-drenching but everyone at Rojo will treat you right.

Re: End of the world T.V. shows
Thanks for the rick Wakeman stuff. Gotta say it was interesting, progressive, but I'm not fond of keyboards. Mine is a technics which sounds exactly like a grand.
Keyboards always sound kinda tinny to me a la harpsichords. Great for period stuff.

I know what you mean. I am actually installing a Yamaha digital piano at the bar - tested out a bunch of different keyboards and didn't care for the piano sound. This one, too, sounds like a nice Grand.
