Applying for Mexican citizenship
I have already read the material in Rolly's site, but have some questions: Rolly's site states that for those over 60, the test re Mexican history is waived. I heard that for those over 70, the fluency in Spanish is waived.
True or false?
If a person wants to go directly from the old FM2 to citizenship, how many months before the expiration date of the FM2 must they start the process.?

Re: Applying for Mexican citizenship
I have no recent experience except for knowing people fluent who had no problem. Another thing to note is that federal police clearance letter is only issued in Mexico City so prepare to spend a day there.

We know someone who gave us the info that it takes awhile and requires a trip to Mexico City. No problem.

Re: Applying for Mexican citizenship
We are Inmigrados. It is my understanding that under the new rules that status will be called Residente Permanente.
As Inmigrados, we can still apply for Mexican Citizenship at any time.
We chose NOT to become Mexican Citizens because we would have to report world wide income to Hacienda AND Canada. That sounded like a major freakin' headache to me and we're trying to make life less complicated.
Please jump in Spencer if I have misunderstood the interpretation above.
And...do Inmigrados have to DO anything (like get a new ID card) or do we just do nothing? I'm really hoping that we had seen the last of the inside of an immigration office.
