Recently someone brought up that their will was completed and picked up from the notario's office, but it had not been registered with the appropriate government office.

On top of my will is a piece of paper, which states:

Escritura Num. xxxx
Fech. xxxxxx
Primer Testimonio
ue contiene la escritura de un
Testamento Publico
Abierto otogado por el senor. xxxxxx

Does this verify that the will has been registered appropriately?

No, the notaries send a copy to the state office of public instruments.

Thanks Spencer.
That means I need to make a trip back to the notario to make sure our wills are 'registered.'

I recently contacted the offices of Notario 5 & son.... who did our wills. I was told that once a year there is some sort of inspection by the State of Jalisco to ensure that wills are registered. And, if they are not registered, then the notario's office is fined.

Anyone know anything about this?
Is it reliable (this is Mexico....and even in the US this question might be asked)? making sure wills are registered 87465

Probably true, I know they had their audit recently as they told me about it. Best to give a copy of your will to your heirs and executor.
