Maid's Severance Pay?
The woman who has cleaned house for us over the course of the last four years obviously will have to be let go when we finally make the move to Tizapan. My wife and I have been trying to make sense of all the various websites that give a "formula" for the calculation, and none of them seem to agree; also, I don't think they consider part-time help.
Norma comes twice a week, on Tuesday and on Friday. When she first started, she received $300 MXN for 10 hours (2 days @ 5 hours each). She averaged probably only 7 hours per week, because there wasn't enough for her to do for those 5 hours per day, even though we paid her for 10 hours per week. Now she gets $450 per week, under the same conditions. Additionally, we have recommended her to others who hired her; and we just arranged for her hiring with a neighbor on our block.
With that information, what do you judge to be a fair and equitable severance pay?

Plan on owing around $10,000 pesos. Get a good exit contract with the person as well.

"When she first started, she received $300 MXN"
What was her last pay level? Her starting pay is not part of the equation.
The termination pay shall include 3-months salary plus 20 days for each year worked plus prorated vacation and Christmas pay. If this termination package cannot be paid at the time of termination, regular salary shall continue until the termination is paid in full.
The monthly is 4.3 times the weekly. The daily is 1/7 of the weekly. If her final pay level is $300, the monthly would be $1290. The daily would be $43.86.
3X1290+20x43.86x4= $7378 plus prorated vacation and Christmas.
So very close the $10,000 as Intercasa said. And get a signed termination agreement!!!!!!!!

Re: Maid's Severance Pay?
Thanks, Guys!!
That's about what we came up with by reading the websites; but I knew there would be someone here who could tell me definitively!
I really appreciate it!
Now, concerning the exit contract/termination agreement, I'm not fluent in Spanish and Norma doesn't read or speak English. I would appreciate it if you could e-mail an "example" that I can adapt to my needs (or PM me). I hope I'm not asking too much.

You should get a labor lawyer to draw up the paper and be a witness to the signing.
