Bob do you do lessons for those of us with pools? I have maintained a hot tub for years and could do the pool myself with a bit of advice in the beginning. Tequila is of course included ;)
I would be more than happy to come and see your set-up and offer some advice on how best to maintain it yourself. A properly balanced & maintained pool will not ever have a calcium or scum ring to clean up and your stainless steel equipment will not stain or corrode. I'll be back in Chapala sometime in early October so give me a shout then.
Thanks Bob! I am moving in the house shortly so October works for me! Enjoy Vancouver and have a burger with Triple-O for me. I will contact you once I am settled in and have you and the Mrs over for drinks and pool class 101.

Has anybody ever tried a power washer on "ring around the pool" or to blast a combo of soap and hard water scale off the shower floor of a rental house?

Re: Cleaning a Swimming Pool
the problem with a power washer is you might blow a tile right off!! Use a steel brush and brush softly at first and then harder if need be. If that doesent work, then maybe a grinder with a wire wheel, just dont electrocute yourself!!!!!

Re: Cleaning a Swimming Pool
Trust me Trevor...I would like to blow all of the tiles on the shower floor right off. I've been working at this for months. Tried CLR, Muriatic acid, abrasive powders, your mentioned pumice stones and a battery operated grinder. They are better and they are coming clean...so far, the best solution has been to spray the dry surface with Easy Off No Fume Oven Cleaner...leave overnight and scrub with a green scrubbie in the morning and rinse.
BTW, the tiles are sealed granite...or, rather, they used to be sealed when we moved in :)
Oh yeah, the faucets used to be totally white...now they're back to being chrome...green scrubbie, coconut oil and elbow grease.

yeah, hard water is a bitch! LOL! Now that your faucet is chrome again, polish it with some chrome cleaner for cars, it works good and lasts pretty long. I used to do that when i renovated old houses with the original bathroom hardware.
