Leaving Oaxaca via the Libre
When leaving Oaxaca on the morning of 8/17, I had just stated that: "I was glad to be leaving via the cuota instead of the libre". The drive into Oaxaca via the cuota had been easy and the driver (me) could actually enjoy the scenery. The next thing we knew, the entrance to the cuota was closed heading north and no evidence of traffic coming south. The flagger yelled something which we interpreted that the cuota was closed in both directions because of a rock slide. We had seen a few small ones when heading south into Oaxaca and with the rains, apparently a larger one had closed the cuota. So we head on up the libre. A very different drive that enabled us to achieve 32mph for the first two and a half hours until we reached a point above the slide and were allowed to get back on the cuota.

Hocks:
Fitting the band in the car was less of a problem than fitting all of Kathy's purchases. She still thinks we are driving the larger shopping cart, our Ford Windstar!
