Organic, a word I've always had a problem with... Empty Organic, a word I've always had a problem with...

Post by ComputerGuy Tue Sep 04, 2012 8:51 am

Regardless of new definitions in dictionaries, when I was growing up, a thing was either organic or not. I avoid paying the high prices of "organically-grown" foods, because I've never seen the benefits except to the cash recipients of the propoganda. And now a Stanford study apparently agrees with me: "They concluded that fruits and vegetables labeled organic were, on average, no more nutritious than their conventional counterparts, which tend to be far less expensive. Nor were they any less likely to be contaminated by dangerous bacteria like E. coli." Standord Scientists Cast Doubt On Advantages of Organic Meat and Produce.http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/04/science/earth/study-questions-advantages-of-organic-meat-and-produce.html?nl=todaysheadlines&emc=edit_th_20120904

HelperGuy, thanks for the post. Organic is total BS as I've always believed. Those with money can buy it and will get illnesses and diseases just as quickly and die.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that when shopping in Whole Foods or one of the other "trendy organic markets" - the average shopper tends to have an anemic look and people look older than they really are?

A local Market Garden just outside of the city supplies Westfair Foods ( Superstore ) with locally grown produce...
A good portion of their crops are held back for " fresh... organic...quality..." food shoppers who drive 12 miles out of town.

Outside of the doors Superstore sells pumpkins for $4.95... drive to the Market Garden and you & your kids can dig thru the mountains of pumpkins for your jack-o-lantern for only $20.00

And that Neil, is precisely why they are there. Also their wallets have become anaemic, and their bank accounts.

My son used to refer to it as "Whole Paycheck".

Indeed, it is also referred to as that in our family, who now avoid it like the plague. There's a super organic garage with tons of great stuff at a fraction of the cost, in Oakville. We go for natural remedies, fluoride free toothpaste and that's about all. For spices we hit the indian store next door. Bought heaps of spices and pappadums there last visit. The big guy is seriously into indian cooking. Yum. Oh yeah, the owners wife makes awesome samosas.

Fluoride free toothpaste?
Geez that sounds like something Colonel Bat Guano from Dr. Strangelove would say.

Chris, fluoride is a deadly toxin in large doses, amongst its effects are fluorosis of the dental enamel, and teeth which fracture easily in older patients. Read the labels on some toothpastes. If your kid swallows more than a regular amount of toothpaste required for one brushing...... call poison control immediately. Yes, I am being serious here.
In the body it causes passivity, reduced I.Q. etc. etc. etc.

Drop some on asphalt and it will burn a hole right through it.

The only way to get it out of your drinking water BTW is a reverse osmosis water filteration system.

http://www.slweb.org/ftrcsymptoms.html

BTW, many prepared food products are made using fluoridated water, very dangerous!!!!!

So maybe the Soviets really were using the fluoridation of American water supplies to pollute our "precious bodily fluids"like Col.Bat Guano said. ?

Maybe so, Stalin and Hitler used it in prison camps. More likely the chemical companies wanted somewhere obvious to dump it, so told everyone it was good for you.

Here's a bit more info.

Col. Bat Guano wasn't so batshit crazy after all.

It was Jack D. Ripper who was the nutter. Keenan
Wynn played Col. Bat Guano who found the body
of Ripper. Sterlin Hayden played Jack D. Ripper.

Great Movie P.O.E. Purity of Essense if I remember
correctly.

My dad worked for Shell Chemical. I saw all the interesting side effects he and his fellow workers put up with for a good pay check. I'll eat organic when possible.

Yep I am old enough to remember certain types of chemists
would not live past 50. People in olden days did tend to run
a little fast and loose. Remember we use to handle mercury
in our hands as kids? Imagine what the chemists did.

Nope Hocks, they pretty much ALL do it. Why? Because if you don't toe the party line you lose your license.

Listened to a CBC radio program on this very topic just recently. Apparently, if you are buying "organic" U have made an environmental/green decision not to promote the use of pesticides, GMO's and other such Monsanto promoted crap. Garbage into the environment - garbage out. We are reaping the rewards of our current little city veggie patch, totally organic, totally yummy. Also, never forget that Canola oil/rapeseed oil is an industrial lubricant. A wartime (WW11) replacement for oil. For us humans, it's poisin. Personally, I can't digest it - shit through a goose. So many restos use it (it's so cheap), and every time I suffer the consequences. Lately I've seen "organic" Canola oil. How cool is that ? - an indigestable organic industrial lubricant. Fuk/xcuse me.

I miss organic milk. It tasted better & it's one thing organic my niece, who is a medical professional only feeds her kids including 2 daughters after seeing way too many little girls developing much earlier than usual which she puts down to the hormones in the regular milk.
